I Live For These Authors Narrating Their Audiobooks

Posted by Jolene Barto on

I love audiobooks: they keep me company on long road trips, they are totally there for me whilst doing the boring adult-stuff that often becomes my weekend (because dusting baseboards in how we all love to spend a Saturday), and they help me tick off that TBR pile quicker than lightening. But you know what audiobooks also do? They let me hear my absolutely favorite writers narrate their own story. It's like being tucked in for a bedtime story with Madeleine L'Engle reading you A Wrinkle in Time. PURE MAGIC. So, I've made a list of some of my favorite authors who are lending their voices to their upcoming and newest audiobooks. Get excited, because these folks are true gems.

Bob Goff's Everybody, Always

Bob Goff is releasing his new book, Everybody, Always in April, and to say we are SUPER PUMPED to read this book is an understatement. What more could a human being want than getting their hands on Bob Goff’s super encouraging, charmingly hilarious, and life-affirming wonderfulness? I’ll tell you what: hearing Bob Goff read you Everybody, Always right into your eardrums. Bob Goff narrated his audiobook, and we are super excited to hear him talk about his epic adventures in the pursuit of a fearless and love-giving life (includes skydiving shoeless and battling cockroaches).

Rachel Held Evans's Inspired

Rachel Held Evans is the truth-giving sister who wrote one of my favorite books ever, A Year of Biblical Womanhood. Her wit, honesty, and insight are all reasons why I love her writing, and so the fact that she is narrating her newest book, Inspired, just seems like the perfect fit. Also, she narrated an entire book whilst being pregnant. SUPERWOMAN.

Scott Hamilton's Finish First

Hi, I am a child of the 90s. Fellow children of the 90s, gather round: do you remember the days of glory that were the ice-skating of Kristi Yamaguchi, Michelle Kwan, Tara Lapinski, Brian Boitano? Of course you do, because those years were bomb. I remember watching them crank out triple axels to the pop-awesomeness of Phil Collins and be like, “I want to be as flippin’ cool as them someday.” And so when I heard that Scott Hamilton would be narrating his audiobook for Finish First? I AM TOTALLY THERE FOR THIS.

And to hear Scott “The Man” Hamilton motivate you with his story with his very own voice is completely magical. My 13 year-old self delights that this audiobook exists in her future. Go ahead… give it a listen:
